About Koen
After graduating his master’s degree in Dutch Law at Radboud University in Nijmegen with specializations, company & corporate law, intellectual property and international private law, Koen was registered at the Dutch Bar in August of 2016. On January the 1st of 2020 Koen became a partner of the lawfirm Zomer Advocaten.
Koen basically drives a commercial law practice, with the focus on company law, intellectual property and tort law.
In addition, since the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (Dutch: AVG) Koen has successfully contested many (incorrect) BKR-registrations. Koen has also done several cases in the context of the Financial Supervision Act (Dutch: Wft) and the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act (Dutch: Wwft), whereby Koen has assisted various companies, which couldn’t get a bank account without the intervention of the court.
Koen’s knowledge and experience with financial institutions is based on his employment history. Koen worked at Rabobank Amsterdam from 2008 to 2013. During that period at Rabobank, Koen followed several courses about the Wft and the Wwft.
